The Bow Competition in Mantili Kingdom - Ramayana Ballet Indonesia - Javanese Classical Dance

Ramayana is the holy book of Valmiki (Hindhuism) in India. The influence of Hindhuism spread to all over the world, including to Indonesia. Years ago, Hindhuism dominated Java island. So many kingdoms in Java Built in Hindhuism.

In Yogyakarta, there is a big temple of Hindhu. It is The Prambanan Temple. At all the wall of the Prambanan temple, there are some stories we can see. At the main temple we can see the ramayana relief on its wall refers to Valmiki.

In the evening, at Prambanan temple theatre, there will be a Ramayana ballet dance in javanase classical dance.

The King Janaka (Mantili kingdom) held Syamvara (competition). Any kings or princess who could lift The Bow Shiva, he might marry Dewi Sita (king's daughter). There are a lot of kings and princess who came to Sita Svayamvara. They tried to lift The Bow Shiva but failed. Because The Bow Shiva could only lifted by The reincarnation of The God Vishnu.

Raja Janaka (kerajaan Mantili) mengadakan sayembara untuk mencarikan suami bagi Dewi Shinta. Bagi siapapun yang bisa mengangkat Busur Siwa, dia bisa menikahi Dewi Shinta. Banyak sekali Raja dan Pangeran yang datang untuk mengikuti sayembara tersebut. Setelah mencoba akhirnya semua raja dan pangeran gagal mengangkat Busur Siwa. Karena Busur Siwa hanya bisa diangkat oleh titisan dewa Wisnu.
